Triple Bottom Line
ABOUT THE PROJECT
Enactus BCIT’S First Annual Triple Bottom Line Case Championship was created with the future success of high school students in mind. After meeting with members of the Burnaby School District, we identified that there is a great desire for our project, where secondary students can:
- acquire skills for professional business cases,
- meet with and be mentored by post-secondary students, and
- learn about the triple bottom line – profits, people, and planet.
This project will bring together 20 members of Enactus BCIT and 50 high school students from the Burnaby School District.
Enactus BCIT students will become mentors for these high school students over the span of three weeks, in preparation for the final case championship on the fourth week. The top three teams of high school students will compete for first, second, and third place scholarship awards to assist their future academic endeavours and goals.
The objective is two-fold: not only to teach them about a fundamental business principle - the triple bottom line and its importance to the future of society and our planet - but also to prepare them for the quality of work and professionalism that is expected of them in a post-secondary-level business program.
At the heart of this project, we are educating youth on the triple bottom line while preparing strong future business leaders and sustainability champions.
